Hasib, Afghan Interpreter
Journey to Massachusetts
Emergency Funding Request for Hasib and Family
The Massachusetts Afghan Alliance (MAA) has supported Hasib for years through his journey as a Special Immigrant Visa holder and interpreter for U.S. service members. After the fall of Kabul and changes in immigration policy, Hasib became stranded with his wife and young children. MAA has provided housing, food, clothing, and educational support during this difficult time.
Last Month, the family reached Pakistan, but the situation remains critical. Afghan travel to the United States has been cut off, and we now need emergency funding to stabilize the family while we work on a path forward.
Immediate Need:
We are seeking $2,500 to cover one-year visas, housing, and living expenses in Pakistan. This funding is essential to keep the family safe and secure while we navigate next steps. The final flight to the United States will be covered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a loan and does not require additional funding.
What is our status?
Great question, let me lay it out:
$2500, Emergency 1 Year Visa, Family of Four.
$2100, Travel Visas to Pakistan. - MAA Funded
$1000, Flights to Pakistan. - MAA Funded
$2000, Safe Housing in Pakistan. - Donor Funded (Thank you!)
Timeline:
This is urgent. We need these funds today to ensure the family’s stability.
Any amount you can contribute will help move this family closer to safety and, ultimately, to Massachusetts. Funds raised beyond the required amount will support relocation and resettlement efforts.
Thank you for your compassion and support.
