Chelmsford Eid Celebration Event Recap

On Thursday, April 3rd, the Massachusetts Afghan Alliance hosted its bi-annual Eid Celebration, bringing together members of the local community for a joyful day of celebration, dancing, and shared meals.

Over 100 members of the Muslim community—representing five different countries—gathered in a safe, welcoming space to honor their faith and culture. The energy was vibrant, with families and children enjoying traditional music, dance, and food prepared by community members.

Guests were treated to a choice of Afghan food and desserts, offering a taste of home for many and a chance for others to experience Afghan hospitality firsthand. The event was held in partnership with the International Institute of New England and the Chelmsford Center for the Arts, whose support helped make the gathering a success.

Our incredible volunteers and local supporters showed up in force, creating an atmosphere of unity and belonging. The event was also attended by Chelmsford Superintendent of Schools Jay Lang, Town Manager Paul Cohen, and several Town of Chelmsford employees, who had the opportunity to see the real-world impact of inclusive community efforts. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration between civic leaders and grassroots organizations in building a more connected and compassionate community.
